Optical 4x4 hitless slicon router for optical networks-on-chip (NoC).
We demonstrate here a spatially non-blocking optical 4x4 router with a footprint of 0.07 mm(2) for use in future integrated photonic interconnection networks. The device is dynamically switched using thermo-optically tuned silicon microring resonators with a wavelength shift to power ratio of 0.25nm/mW. The design can route four optical inputs to four outputs with individual bandwidths of up to...
متن کاملfive-port optical router design based on mach–zehnder switches for photonic networks-on-chip
we design and simulate a five-port optical router, which is composed of twenty mach-zehnder-based switching elements and twelve waveguide crossings for use in integrated photonic interconnection networks. we simulated and analyzed the operation of the proposed optical router from the aspects of insertion loss, power budget, q-factor and the minimum bit error ratio by use of optisystem simulator...
متن کاملFive-port optical router for photonic networks-on-chip.
We experimentally demonstrate a spatially non-blocking five-port optical router, which is based on microring resonators tuned through the thermo-optic effect. The characteristics of the microring-resonator-based switching element are investigated to achieve balanced performances in its two output ports. The optical router is fabricated on the SOI platform using standard CMOS processing. The eff...
متن کاملBroadband hitless silicon electro-optic switch for on-chip optical networks.
We report on the demonstration of a broadband (60 GHz), spectrally hitless, compact (20 microm x 40 microm), fast (7 ns) electro-optical switch. The device is composed of two coupled resonant cavities, each with an independently addressable PIN diode. This topology enables operation of the switch without perturbing adjacent channels in a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system.
متن کاملRouter-Based Bandwidth Allocation on Optical Networks
A detailed understanding of the many facets of the Internet’s topological structure is critical for evaluating the performance of networking protocols, for assessing the effectiveness of proposed techniques to protect the network from nefarious intrusions and attacks, or for developing improved designs for resource provisioning. In this way Available bandwidth estimation is a vital component of...
